Mustang Seat

If you're reading a review on seats, you're no doubt painfully aware that a two by four is more comfortable than the stock VTX seat.

If you put any substantial miles on your bike, this is by far the most important accessory you will spend your hard earned dollars on! You will probably say, “They’re big bucks” and “how do I afford a new seat” and “are they worth it?” Well, trust me when I say, your butt will thank you and it's worth every penny.

Several good seats are available to choose from. Saddleman, Corbin, Ultimate and Mustang are the most common. Seats are probably one of the most subjective accessories and you will have as many preferences and opinions as you have people. The best way to find your seat preference is to set on each of them and ride a few miles if possible.

The Corbin is a very hard base and the Ultimate is very soft and plush. Mustang is
somewhere in the middle. Saddleman seems to be a medium hard base like the Mustang and has great lines just made for the C.

I went with and still prefer the 4 piece Mustang set over any other seat option. The driver’s backrest was well worth it and helps dramatically with fatigue on long distance rides. The Mustang passenger back rest is wider than the stock back rest giving the passenger a bit more lumbar support. The backrest shape and stitching also match the driver’s backrest much better than the stock which will enhance the overall look.

Mustang quality is good and the price is competitive with the other brads. They offer plain or studs depending on your look preference. What I find is you still feel fatigue after the long day but you don’t feel saddle sore or stiff and you recover much quicker. With a quick stop and stretch every so often you can go all day.

I think the key for me was seating position. Comfortable but firm, a bit toward the rear and lower than stock. The Ultimate has a thicker back ledge and they make me sit a bit high and forward. After the Mustang is broken in, it will feel just like your Lazy Boy chair.

No matter what seat you choose, it will be more comfortable than stock. Monkey Butt will always be your problem and with any good seat, after a brief stretch you are good to go for another 500 miles.
