The addition of a
light bar to your VTX can change the entire look of the
bike. Personally, I like the bigger lights, they go well
with the Retro look.
There are many
choices and I would suggest before you decide, check out
the various types of light bars on other bikes to find
your preferred look. Some people who don't care for the
bar have even mounted the lights on a bracket without a
bar.
I think the light
bar is one of the best additions you can make to the
bike. From a safety factor, it makes you so much more
visible to oncoming vehicles during the day and a t
night.
At night on the
dark two lane, there is nothing better than the extra
light you shine on the shoulder of the road. It's a
great help in spotting the wildlife or road hazards
before they become a problem.
Even when riding
with a group and looking in your mirror, you will see
the bike with a light bar easily but the bike without a
bar will get lost in the collection of other bikes.
Simply put, it
helps you to see and be seen!
First you remove
the turn signals and brackets from your forks and
install the signals to the bottom of the light bar.
Next, install the bar to the bottom of your headlight
mount. Remove your headlight and pull out the wires.
Hook the hot wire for your driving lights to the low
beam headlight hot wire. They also give you an on / off
switch that mounts on the left side of the handle bar so
you can turn them off as needed. Button the headlight
back up and you're good to go.

The purpose of
using your low beam headlight wire is so when the high
beam headlight is used the driving lights automatically
turn off. If you prefer an always on mode, you can hook
the lights into any switched hot wire. I prefer the
suggested wiring. By using my headlight high / low beam
switch and switching it up and down, I become very
visible with the light bar and headlight intermittently
blinking.
Again, a top notch
quality product at a cost around $280. It will make a
great addition to your overall look and improve your
visibility and safety 10 fold.
