Saddle Bags are an inexpensive option to leather. They are a
hard bag made of ABS plastic giving you the look of leather
without the maintenance of leather. They will maintain their
shape and will not weather and deteriorate like leather over
the years. You can easily clean and touch them up with Armor
All or Honda Spray Polish to keep them protected from the
weather.
They have
a good seal around the hinged lid and it will stay dry inside
during any type of weather. They have also been used as
coolers! Just drop in some ice, load them up with your
favorite beverage and enjoy.

If you
like a removable bag which can give you the clean naked look
for a change, these are a great choice. In less than two
minutes they are off, leaving very few signs that they were
ever on the bike. They use two mounting studs that come off
the side rail of your bike and a Teflon wear pad that rides on
the rear shock which helps to support the bag.
In the
early days they had a couple of production problems with the
bags that you should be aware of. They hung too low leaving
them close to the stock Retro pipe allowing the heat to melt
the bottom of the bag. They have also had issues with the
mounting hole rubber grommets wearing and causing the mounting
holes to crack. If you keep this grommet lubed with a light
grease and replace it when you notice wear it will control the
wear and stop the bag from cracking.
Two
suggestions I have, when the bike is in the garage, leave the
lids open so it will not flatten the weather seal and use duct
tape on your shocks so the Teflon wear pad does not mar your
shock.
Well after
one year of use and long after the warranty period had
expired, I noticed the pipes had melted the bottom of my right
bag. I contacted them, paid for the shipping and sent them in
so they could look at the bags. They replaced the bags and
shipped them back two day air with no cost to me. Customer
service is without a doubt some of the best I have
experienced.
