I really like the
look of the chrome fender rail on the Retro fender. It
gives the bike that low and wide look from days gone by.
Unfortunately they seem to break frequently.
 I
purchased the bike new with both the front and rear
Hondaline fender rails installed. The front rail broke
at the mounting bracket within the first 20K miles. I
replaced it and the second one broke within the next 15K
miles.
Deciding that I didn’t like throwing money away as
well
as the safety factor I didn’t replace it a third time.
If you are using
the fender rail, I would suggest you check it
frequently. The last time it broke, I was at highway
speed and it was bouncing off the tire. Can you imagine
the damage this rail could cause if it were to jam
itself into the front wheel at highway speed?
The rear rail made
it to approximately 35K miles before it broke. For a
cost of $121 for the front rail and $134 for the rear
rail there will be no more rails for me, now I run my
fenders naked.
